Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Call Guardian Android application (the "App"). By installing or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App.

1. The App

Call Guardian is a personal, on-device call-screening utility. It helps you filter incoming voice calls based on rules you configure (protection mode, country prefix, contact membership, blacklist, per-contact rules, group memberships, schedules, and optional features such as Gatekeeper, Bio-Lock, Meeting Shield, Ghost Call, Fake Conversation, Ambient Noise, Emergency Password, Panic Gesture, Delivery Mode, Auto-Reply, Flip-to-Hush, and Social Radar). All processing happens on your device.

2. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not redistribute, sublicense, sell, or rent the App. You may not reverse-engineer the App except as expressly permitted by applicable law.

3. Guardian Premium (in-app purchase)

Guardian Premium is an optional one-time in-app purchase (guardian_premium_lifetime, €5.99 or local equivalent) that unlocks additional features (Smart Intelligence, Contact Groups, Power Tools, Restricted Mode). The purchase is:

One-time and lifetime: it is not a subscription, does not auto-renew, and does not expire.
Tied to your Google account: it is restored on reinstall and on new devices signed in with the same account, using the Restore Purchase button.
Non-refundable after 48 hours from purchase, subject to Google Play's refund policy which supersedes these Terms.
Handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We never receive your payment data. Any refund request must be filed through Google Play using the standard procedure.

The free features of the App (Standard and Exposed protection modes, VIP list, Blacklist, Notifications, Call History, Assistant, Backup, Personalisation, Language) remain available without payment.

4. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for the rules you configure and for ensuring that blocking calls is permitted in your context. In particular:

You must not use the App to suppress calls you are legally required to receive (for example, court-ordered communications, employer-mandated lines, or emergency services).
Setting Call Guardian as your call-screening app means the operating system will route incoming-call decisions through it. Misconfiguration may cause you to miss legitimate calls. Test your settings.
Ghost Call, Fake Conversation, Ambient Noise, and Panic Gesture simulate an incoming call for social-escape purposes. It is your responsibility to use them lawfully — do not use them to fabricate evidence, to deceive law-enforcement or medical personnel, or in any jurisdiction that prohibits simulated incoming calls.
Auto-Reply and Emergency Password use SMS. You are responsible for any carrier charges those messages incur.
Social Radar hands off to third-party messaging apps (WhatsApp, Telegram). You are responsible for complying with those platforms' terms and for the fact that the recipient may see you looked them up.
You are responsible for granting only the permissions you are comfortable with. Optional features that require additional permissions are clearly labelled at first launch (Permissions Onboarding) and again when you toggle the feature on in Settings.

5. No warranty

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will block every undesired call or never block a desired one. Carrier behaviour, OS updates, OEM modifications (aggressive background killers on Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, Realme, Huawei, etc.), Doze / App-Standby, battery-optimisation profiles, revoked permissions, and similar factors are outside our control.

6. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL THE DEVELOPER BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUES, BUSINESS, GOODWILL, OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE APP. IF, NOTWITHSTANDING THE ABOVE, ANY LIABILITY IS ESTABLISHED, IT WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIVE EUROS.

7. Emergency calls

The App does not interfere with outgoing emergency calls (e.g. 112, 911, 118, 999). Android bypasses call-screening applications for outgoing calls to emergency numbers. Nevertheless, the App is not designed to route or receive emergency calls on your behalf. In an emergency, dial your local emergency number directly with the system dialer.

8. No account, no cloud

The App does not require an account. Any log-in / register UI that may appear in future versions is optional and gated behind an explicit feature flag; today's version has no cloud component enabled.

9. Updates

We may release updates that change features, performance, supported Android versions, or these Terms. Material changes to the Terms will be surfaced in-app on next launch. Continued use of the App after such an update constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Third-party apps and services

Buttons that hand off to third-party apps (your dialer, WhatsApp, Telegram, email, Play Store) are governed by those apps' own terms. We are not responsible for their behaviour. Fake Conversation may use Google's Text-To-Speech engine if installed — its voices are provided by Google and their use is subject to Google's terms. Payments are handled by Google Play Billing, subject to Google Play's terms and refund policy.

11. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may stop offering, supporting, or updating the App at any time. Sections 5, 6, 10, and 13 survive termination.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts located in Italy for any dispute arising from these Terms or the App, except where mandatory consumer-protection rules grant you the right to sue in your place of residence.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
